Windows 10: Can I plug in my old ssd into the SATA of my new pc? Will all my files be there?

Recently I just finished building my new pc. I'm planning on activating windows 11 on a seperate drive Internal of the pc. I was wandering if I could plug in my old ssd and hdd into my new pc; will all the files be there? Note, my old ssd has windows 10 installed, so will that pose a problem to the os installed on the new pc? Thanks for the help.

Unable to Boot to Windows 10 after Cloning old SSD to new SSD

Hi,

I'm not using the SATA ports. I'm using M.2 with the SSD, and the external SSD is connected to my PC using USB. My MB only has only one M.2 socket, so I can only plug in one SSD at a time. (I bought a wrong adapter that doesn't work with NVMe) So I cloned
my old SSD to an external SSD (Samsung M3 Portable SSD), and then swapped the old one, cloned the external SSD to my new SSD.

I tried AOMEI too, but the free version does not come with disk clone functions. I would probably try Macrium Reflect as suggested above. Thank you!

I finally fixed my problem by switching the sata connections on the motherboard. My old/original hard drive was plugged into sata port #1 and new SSD was plugged into sata port #2. I switched them out and the went into bios and changed around boot order
to boot off of new SSD and now everything is fine. System is showing SSD as master and old HDD as slave drive. Everything is now in order and computer loads blazingly fast.

Hi Jordan, no you don't have to set Windows on a hard drive, Windows 10 will run from an SSD or an HDD

Is the SSD Plugged into the lowest number SATA port on your Motherboard?

In your BIOS is SATA MODE set to AHCI

Is the SSD now top of the Boot order list?
