Windows 10: Can i recover old restore points that don't appear when i do system restore

So basically i messed up and deleted half of my crowded desktop shortcuts along with steam games and bluetstacks apps etc and i tried to get it all back by using the restore points the next day but it didn't work and it said that it failed to find it in the directory or something but then i tried again and the points weren't there and i went in a full panic atack and wondered if i would ever se my old desktop again and i have tried many things like command prompts and over things like file recoverys but nothing has worked and i am stressed becuase i don't know if i could get it back so if the

How to delete inactive System Image Restore Points in System Restore

Windows 10 64-bit.
When I click "show more restore points" in System Restore I see a bunch of old "system image restore points" that were deleted in past and do not correspond to any currently active restore points. Clicking any of these old restore points, I simply get an error message saying they could not be found, and to select another restore point instead.I would like to delete these restore points listings but have been unable to do so.
So far, I have tried steps mentioned below without any luck :

Disk Cleanup through (C Properties
Disable System Protection (OFF and ON) in System Protection for OS (C
Disk Space Usage to minimum (slider button all the way to the left then 'Delete all restore points for this drive'),
Delete all shown Restore points in CCleaner (the problem ones do not show here),
Reset Windows Backup to Default in Windows 10 with 'Reset_Windows_Backup.bat' utility.

Any suggestions highly welcome.

 

Windows 10 System Restore - Old restore points not appearing in System Restore

I've been facing multiple issues with Windows 10 not starting or not logging in lately. Eventually I had to run the system reset from the recovery environment, which claims to keep personal files intact while deleting all applications and system settings, and that's exactly what it did.

Upon inspection of the System Volume Information folders on both hard drives, the recovery points from before the reset were still there (8GB or so in size, with names like {66c05d6f-85c1-11e6-9512-448500442b6c}{3808876b-c176-4e48-b7ae-04046e6cc752} and dates that I recognize as dates from the old restore points). However, the System Restore menu only shows restore points that were created after the reset. (I'm aware there is a checkbox that hides some restore points by default, but that is not the issue.) Oddly enough, these old restore points also contribute to the "total" amount of disk space used by restore points, despite Windows not recognizing them.

Here's my question: Is there any way (via a 3rd party application or some clever workaround) to get Windows to recognize these hidden restore points or otherwise apply them to the system? Is it possible, for example, to "trick" System Restore by substituting the data from an old restore point into the new restore point file?

I've looked at multiple third-party applications that claim to work with system restore, but some are out of date and incompatible and the rest of them (at least the ones I tried) only show the restore points recognized by the system. I've tried System Restore Manager, System Restore Explorer, and SysRestore with no luck.

I'm beginning to get the impression that it's not possible to retrieve these old restore points, but I figured there may be someone out there who knows more about system restore files than I do.

Suppose I go back to an earlier version of C: with the desired restore point, restore from it and create a restore point on D:, then reload the current C:. Will I be able to restore from that restore point on D:?

Step by step:

1. Enable Restore for D:
   
2. Back up the C: drive with Acronis.
   
3. Restore C: to an earlier date with the desired restore point, from the Acronis backup image.
   
4. Restore the system from the desired restore point.
   
5. See if Restore is still enabled for D:. If not, enable it there, with the same capacity as in step 1.
   
6. Disable Restore for C:.
   
7. Create a restore point. Since there's no availability on C:, it should be created on D:, and be identical to the desired restore point.
   
8. Now put C: back to the current version using the backup created in step 2.
   

Will the system now recognize that restore point on D: and let me restore from it?
