Windows 10: Can I replace my hard drive and install an updated version of windows?

Hello,


I have been trying for a about two weeks now to update my computer from windows 10 version 1607, to the current update, with no results. I have tried all of the suggestions on this forum, as well as other suggestions from other sites. One of may attempts involved using the fresh start tool, starting totally fresh with no files saved. If I replace my hard drive, can I install an already updated version directly onto it, or am I going to have to reinstall this version and update it after the install is done?

Replacing old hard drive, need way to copy Windows installation across

Hey Guys,
What would be the best way of copying/imaging the entire contents of an old system drive over to a replacement hard disk for the same machine? I need to copy the Windows installations and all other data to the new drive, and then format the old drive to use as a backup.

Any suggestions? *Smile

Installing Windows 10 after replacing hard drive

I tried to install Windows on my hard drive. The installation seemed to go well but the last step in the process was to update the program. The computer locked during the updating and continued to update for a day, when I did an emergency shut down.
I repeated this process and gave up. Any suggestions?
