Windows 10: Can I return to an earlier configuration to get rid of Copilot from my PC

My computer auto-updated overnight and now I have Copilot, the AI peeping program I severely do not want on my PC. I did not ask for this update, I did not ask for this to be installed.I am incredibly frustrated that it is not an optional, opt-in type program. I do not want this on my PC, I don't want anything to do with the AI sludge machine that's making the internet more unreliable and worse than ever. How do I get this unwanted spyware program off my computer? Can I get rid of it by restoring to an earlier version of my PC's build?

Group Policy Editor Link for W11 installation

Run as Administrator and allow to install

NB: MUST SELECT ENABLE first AS THIS ALLOWS APP TO TURN OFF THE PROGRAM

1. Open Local Group Policy Editor from the Windows search - type Gpedit.msc in the Run command and click icon
   

1. Navigate to the following folder in the Group Policy Editor window using the left panel:User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Copilot
   

1. On the right-side pane, double-click the 'Turn off Windows Copilot' policy.
   

1. Select 'Enabled' and click 'Apply' and then 'OK'. This allows the app to disable CoPilot
   
   Click 'Disabled' then Apply to turn off CoPilot

1. To re-enable Windows Copilot, follow the same steps and select 'Not configured' or 'Disabled'. Then, click 'Apply' and 'OK'.
   

If the Copilot button is visible in the taskbar, it will disappear after you apply the policy. You do not need to restart your computer or enforce the Group Policies. The Copilot option will also disappear from the Settings app.

 

Copilot randomly got removed from taskbar options.

I can understand how frustrating it is when an essential feature like copilot disappears unexpectedly.

Here are few steps to fix this issue.

1. Open Settings.
   
   Click on Personalization.
   
   In Taskbar, check if the Copilot toggle is off. If so, turn it on.
   
2. If Group Policy Editor isn’t working, try these steps:
   
   • Press Win + R, and enter gpedit.msc.
     
   • Navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.
     
   • Look for any policies related to Copilot and ensure they’re not disabled.

None of the methods to disable Copilot work, can't even hide it
