Windows 10: Can I revert back to the original version of Windows?

Hello all,I have an old laptop and, according to the sticker on the bottom, it came pre-installed with Windows 7 Pro it also has a security key printed on it.The laptop was downgraded to Windows XP to enable it to run old software which, at the time, wasn't Windows 7 friendly.Can I upgrade back to Windows 7 using the product key on the sticker? If so, where can I legally download a Windows 7 image to install?I am not worried about losing my files and settings as there isn't anything much of importance stored on the device and I can add the stuff I want back quite easily. I would appreciate if you could answer few questions to narrow down the issue.

• When the computer did froze? Is it when you tried to roll back?
• Did you receive any error message?

I suggest you to remove all the external devices plugged in to the computer and check if it helps to resolve the issue. If the issue persists, please restart the computer and check whether it rolled back or not. If it loads Windows 10,
I suggest you to download the latest ISO of Windows 10 and perform automatic repair.

Steps to perform repair:

a) Insert the installation DVD or USB
and boot Windows 8 from it.

b) In the ‘Windows setup’ page select the language to install’, ‘Time and currency format’ and the ‘keyboard or input method’ and click on ‘next’.

c) Click on ‘Repair your computer’ and select ‘Troubleshoot’.

d) Click on ‘Advanced options’ and select ‘Automatic Repair’ and select the operating system.

Origin will not load

In order to get clarity on this issue and assist you with appropriate troubleshooting steps, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

1. Which was the update that was installed prior to this issue?
   
2. What is the version of your Windows 10 computer? (To check the version of your Windows 10, you can refer
   See which version of Windows 10 you have).
   
3. Do you get any error message while launching the Origin application?
   
4. What was the error message that you got while reinstalling the Origin application?
   
5. Are you facing this issue with any other applications?
   

Meanwhile, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if you are able to launch Origin application.

1. Follow the steps mentioned in Uninstalling Origin Application
   and completely uninstall Origin from your computer.
   
2. Then, put your computer in a Clean Boot State
   and delete the folders from the following locations.
   

• Note: A Clean Boot starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. Your computer may temporarily lose
  some functionality while in a clean boot environment, however, that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after you have finished your troubleshooting.
  

• C:\ProgramData\Origin\
  
• C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Origin\
  
• C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Origin\
  
• C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License\
  

1. Then, Download Origin and install it with the computer being in a Clean Boot
   State.
   
2. Then, place the computer to normal boot by going to
   Reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting section in the Clean Boot link and check if you are able to launch the Origin application.

Windows keeps reverting back to previous version.
