Windows 10: Can I Save A Paint 3D Project To A Folder Of My Choice?

Hello Folks: Working on recently patched Windows 10 Pro. After looking at the Paint 3D icon for years, I've decided to give it a try. It hasn't been a smooth introduction so far. I want to use Paint 3D to diagram data structures I'm coding while following a Vulkan tutorial. I'm offered this choice when I save the Paint 3D project: How do I save this Paint 3D project in a folder of mine that has files associated with the tutorial. It's not that important for a tutorial, but I can see a need to save the Paint project in the folders associated with an application. It might be an evol

Saving in Paint 3D to regular folders

Hi David,

In most cases, the option to save it to another folder is to export the edited image from
Paint 3D to a specific folder. It is grouped as project folders so you can open and edit it in the future.

We also suggest that you check the response of Jigar-Mehta MSFT on October 28, 2016 in this

thread. This will explain more about the saving option in Paint 3D.

When I edit an image with Paint 3D, how do I save it back to the original folder, over the original, or as a new version? Both Save and Save As seem to offer only saving it to the App's folders, only in Project or finished formats, no other options!

We understand your concern as you are having difficulties with Paint 3D app on your PC. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
  
• What is the Version of Paint 3D installed on the PC?
  
• Did you try opening any other project or did you try to open the same project on a different device?
  
• Are you aware of any recent changes on the PC prior to this issue?

However, we would suggest you to perform step 1, 3 & 7 from this article:

If the issue persists, then we would suggest you uninstall and reinstall Paint 3D app.

1. Close Paint 3D app. Press
   Windows + X key.
   
2. Select Windows PowerShell (Admin)
   from the list.
   
3. Copy and paste this command:
   Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.MSPaint* | Remove-AppxPackage
   
4. Press Enter key and once the process completes, restart the PC.
   
5. After restart go to Microsoft Store and install
   Paint 3D.

If the issue persists, then we would suggest you to create a new administrator user account and check, refer this article to
create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10.
