Windows 10: Can i separate out dark mode across the different apps in Office? It seems to be all or...

I like to run dark mode in Outlook but I hate it in One Note not the web version.


I used to be able to toggle within the apps individually but now it appears that has been replaced to selecting White/Colourful/Grey/Dark across every app in Microsoft Office universally - now its all the apps or none.


How can i toggle it to just have dark mode in Outlook but say Colourful in One Note?

Dark mode / Light mode doesn't work

This was all caused by that new light theme in version 1903 of Windows 10, to revert everything to the settings prior to that update, here are the steps . ..

Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu)

Go to Personalization - Colors

Set 'Choose your Color' to Custom

Set Windows Mode to Dark

Set App Mode to Light or Dark

Then that option to change the Taskbar color should be active . ..

You can also set App Mode to light or dark separately form Windows Mode and there is a new feature in 1903, where form each Apps settings, you can individually set an app to either dark or light mode . ..

since updating win 10 from 1803 to 1903, I can no longer set different light/dark modes for windows and for apps.

before the update, I liked the windows mode light, and the app mode dark. but now, even though there is a separate switch for each, the app switch alone sets the mode, and the windows switch does nothing. everything is either all light or all dark.

anyone know of a fix for this?

 

My taskbar seems to be stuck on dark mode

My taskbar seems to be stuck on dark mode, I can change to dark and I get the task bar settings back (I get white text and icons), but when I change both options (windows mode and app mode) to light, the checkbox for accent colour on task is greyed out. My taskbar shows dark text and icons in light mode whether I have a dark or light background image

Duh! Figured out the default should in fact be dark mode. I thought it was light by default, but it's the other way around. No wonder I couldn't tick the box to apply accent colour to taskbar! It's not really obvious in the settings. Has the transparency setting changed? It's been a while since I tinkered around with my colours and settings. I seem to remember there being a slider to set the level of transparency for the taskbar, but this doesn't seem to be available anymore.
