I use 3 laptops each for different purposes. One drives my home entertainment, another I use for my home office, etc. The only thing that is common among them is my email. While I'm spending time setting up movies or what not I like to be able to answer or send email. Currently, due to my ignorance, I have no way to take advantage of the 1TB of cloud storage per "family member" and use each as segregated areas for backups. Is there a trick to accomplishing my goal that I am missing? Thanks for any insights.

    :)

  2. Setting up microsoft accounts for family safety - Windows 10

    Hi,

thanks for the reply, but having tried everything you suggested - again. I had tried all these things initially and only raised the question when I ran out of things to try!

I still get the same problem. When attempting to following the steps below, the problem occurs at step 3 - when trying to "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead". This is where the unhelpful "Oops something went wrong" message occurs when entering the
windows password "for the last time".

The child's Microsoft account does exist, and I can log in to it via a web browser, but I don't seem to be able to link it to the account he logs in to the PC with. The troubleshooter just detects the fact that he is not logged in with a Microsoft account
(I ran this with both my account, which is fine, and then when logged in with the child's account)!

Check your child’s account on the PC that your child uses

    • Have your child sign in to the PC.

    • Open Settings, then select Accounts.

    • Select Your account.

      • If your child doesn’t currently sign in with a Microsoft account, select
Sign in with a Microsoft account instead and enter their email address.

      • If an email address is already associated with their account, make a note of it. You’ll use it to add their Microsoft account to your family at

        account.microsoft.com/family
        .

  3. Setting up Family safety settings in Windows

    Hello Ajay,

I realize that you are trying to setup the Microsoft Family Safety settings.

    • Which version of operating system are you using to setup the Family Safety?
If you are using the Windows 10 then I suggest you to refer the below information and check if it helps.

It’s easy to share your Windows 10 PC with family members. Add family members using "Add a family member" from your PC's Settings, and they’ll be able to use that PC as well. And you're always in control. You can allow or block them from using
    a PC at any time.

Add kids to your family to help them stay safer online. Adults in the family can view reports of kids’ online activity, limit how long and when they use their devices, and help make sure they don't see inappropriate websites, apps, or games.

I suggest you to create a family safety account in Windows 10
    and check if it helps.

Refer: Set up family features in Windows 10

Hope this information helps. Keep us posted to help you better.

Windows 10 Family Safety Creates Mystery PCs

    Hello,

As an initial recommendation, I suggest you to check for the latest updates in Windows 10 which helps the PC to make optimal use of Windows 10 capabilities as well as fixing any missing links in performance of the operating system.

To check for updates now, go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select
Check for updates. If Windows Update says that your PC is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available.

Now, please follow the below suggested methods and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

    Method 1

Consider the below important points and check if it helps.
    • Sync the settings on both the Family Safety website & on the local computer (via the "Manage settings in Family Safety website" link in the Family Safety on Control Panel).
    • Turn off then turn on the settings for Activity Reporting. This process will refresh the configuration. You need to sign in to

family on the Microsoft account website
. Next, select the child whose report you want to see, which will show you their Recent activity page.
    • Verify that you have disabled/uninstalled any other third party real-time antimalware products that were installed on your PC, to check if any how incoming/outgoing connections to the PC are affected by the firewall.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have
to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done.

    Method 2

If it still does not help, I suggest you to remove the child account from your Microsoft Family Safety settings and check if it helps.

    Follow the below steps.

    • From a web browser, go to
      http://account.microsoft.com/family
and sign in with the Microsoft account of an adult in the family.

    • To remove a child, choose Remove at the top of the section labeled
Select a child to view or edit their settings.
    • Select the person you want to remove from the family
    • Select the Remove button that appears when you've chosen the person to remove.

Write to us with the updated information for us to be able to assist you further.

    Thank you.
