Can I try out Windows 10 with virtual install without activation issue

So I want to know if using windows 10 as a clean install in a virtual drive may effect the success of activation windows 10 during an upgrade from windows 7?

I don't want to take any risks but I do feel its needed to try out windows 10 before upgrading. I want to know how much will break on it and what not.

    :)

  2. Windows activation (digital) not reading correctly

I bought new iMac, installed Win10 Pro using digital key acquired from Amazon digital license purchase. Everything appears to be working fine but window pops up and says its not activated.

I have also been trying to use Parallels 12 on Mac side to make virtual with BootCamp. I had everything running fine on both ends but it goes in and out of being activated then not.

How can I resolve this once and for all without the activation issue always being a problem?

    WindowsUpdate_C1900101-40017 error on install

Nice. I will try this out tonight.

I tried the clean install only and Windows 10 installed properly but I cannot activate that install. It is the Win 8.1 to Win 10 is not installing correctly at this time. Hope Virtualization switch will work. It is an HTPC and I do not care for Virtualization
    at this time.

Although I like Media center, I will not miss it much.

Most users haven't had any problems at all so your fears are probably exaggerated but if you do an upgrade and have problems you can always revert to your previous installation within the first 30 days. I believe doing what you are proposing may cause future issues with upgrades but I'm not sure. I certainly wouldn't risk it.

I would not think that it would.

Many people have reported problems reverting back to their old operating system. It is much safer, and more reliable to make an image of the old OS before upgrading using a program such as Macrium Reflect Free.
