Windows 10: Can I turn off internet explorer 11?

I have Windows 10 Home Edition and I use Firefox as my browser. Can I turn off Internet Explorer 11? I was about to but I got the message


Turning off Internet Explorer 11 might affect other Windows Features and Programs installed on your computer including default settings. Do you want to continue?


So I backed off. Anyone have any thoughts on it? I suppose I could always go with "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".....

MSN is crashing in Internet Explorer 11

The issue you're experiencing could be due to unauthorized add-ons causing the page not to respond. We'd like to know the following:

• Did you notice any changes on your PC prior to the issue?
• Is the issue happening to all websites aside from MSN.com?
  

In the meantime, I suggest that you start Internet Explorer with no Add-ons. Please follow the steps below:

• Press the Windows key + R. A Run dialog box will open.
• Type iexplore.exe -extoff

If you're able to browse websites without any issues, then add-ons may be cause the error. You can refer to this link on how to turn off/remove add-ons on Internet Explorer:

Internet Explorer won't start

Since the issue persists, we suggest that you rebuild the Internet Explorer 11 by turning it off and on from the Windows features. To do this, follow the steps below:

• In the search box, type Program and Features and press
  Enter.
• On the left pane of Program and Features window, click
  Turn Windows features on or off.
• Untick the check box for Internet Explorer
  11 and click OK.
• Once done, restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
• After restarting, re-do the steps above except for the step 3 which you need to tick the check box for
  Internet Explorer 11 and click OK.
• Restart your computer once more and check if the issue persists.

Let us know if you can now launch the Internet Explorer 11.

 

Internet Explorer 11 not working on Windows 10

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet Explorer. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Explorer.

Refer these steps:

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
• Run the Internet Explorer performance troubleshooter
