Windows 10: can I upgrade from Win 10 Home Single Language Version to Windows 10 Pro and still keep my...

I was working in Brazil and my laptop crashed and died. I bought a Brazilian ACER Predator laptop, but it came with Windows Home Single Language version in Portuguese. Can I buy and upgrade to Windows 10 Pro and still keep my current settings and data and still upgrade so I can switch to English?

Upgrade Windows 10 Home Single Language to Windows 10 Pro

I once upgraded my pre-installed Windows 8 Home Single Language to Windows 8.1 Home Single Language. I want to try Windows Phone development and it use Hyper-V to work with WP virtual Machine. My OS version is Home, so in order to work with Hyper-V, I upgraded
to Windows 8.1 Pro in System Properties on the link under "Windows Edition" section. That link telling us to add features for your current edition and upgraded it to Pro edition. I remembered that after upgrading to Windows 8.1 Pro, My Windows 8.1 Pro was
activated without entering product key for the Pro edition, since my previous Windows 8.1 Home Single Language was activated using pre-installed product key. It works like a charm that I can simply upgraded it from Win 8.1 Home SL to Win 8.1 Pro without entering
any product key and was activated. And then after that, I can work with Hyper-V by activating it in BIOS.

After these things, I managed to upgrade to Win 10. After upgrading to Windows 10, I got Windows 10 Pro edition because my previous was 8.1 Pro. This Windows 10 Pro was activated without entering any product key. And now, I change my harddisk with a new
one because it was broken, and I have to do clean installation to the new harddisk. Since my pre-installed OS was Windows 8 Home Single Language , the product key was embedded into my BIOS so I can re-install and re-activate the same version Windows 8 or Windows
8.1 Home SL to my new harddisk laptop. And then I manage to upgrade to Windows 10, and I got Windows 10 Home SL since I upgraded from Win 8.1 Home SL. I though I can upgraded it to Pro edition easily without entering product key like I did before my harddisk
was broken, but it the online manual said I have to buy the Pro edition product key in order to upgrade to Pro edition.

My question is, Why can I do it easily before harddisk was broken without entering product key for Windows 8.1 Pro?, Is it only work for upgrading from Windows 8.1 Home SL to Windows 8.1 Pro?, If that so, then Can I downgrade my Win 10 home back to Win 8.1
Home so I can upgrade my Win 8.1 Home to Pro, and re-upgrade it back for Win 10 Pro?. Thanks for your answer.
