  1. Can I upgrade to Windows 11 after switching CPU instead of buying a new license?

I am planning to upgrade my CPU and by extension my motherboard and RAM from an older Intel to a more powerful AMD one and have read that it's better to reinstall your OS, I was originally going to use a USB drive to install Windows 11 and get a license later as I've been wanting to upgrade to Windows 11 currently using 10 and reset my PC, though I had the idea that maybe I could just use the same drive that Windows is currently on, back up my important files and do the free upgrade after swapping the motherboard and CPU, would there be any possible issues with doing this? I would probably

    :)

Do I have to buy a new Windows 10 License after I upgrade my CPU and switch to new SSD?

    Hi,

I bought a PC recently from a friend and bought a Win10 License, now I want to upgrade its CPU and operating the Windows on SSD, I know license sticks to the MOBO but is CPU and storage chancges counts as big upgrades and forces me to buy new license?

    Thanks a lot.

  3. Free upgrade from Windows 11 Home to 11 Pro using 10 Pro retail license

My current computer has an activated Windows 10 Pro retail license. I'm planning to replace my current computer by buying a new computer that comes preinstalled with Windows 11 Home, and then I understand I can use my 10 Pro license to upgrade to 11 Pro for free.

What's the most straightforward way of accomplishing this? The obvious approach that comes to mind involves two steps:

    1. Reinstall Windows 10 Pro on new computer and activate with my existing retail license.
    2. Upgrade new computer to 11 Pro for free through the settings.
Is there a simpler way of doing this without having to reinstall Windows 10? For example, would it be possible to somehow "trade in" my Windows 10 Pro license for 11 Pro? I'm fairly new to Windows licensing and am just trying to understand what is possible/best practice, with minimal effort.

  4. Can I upgrade to Windows 11 after switching CPU instead of buying a new license?

Can I still upgrade to Windows 11 if I change the storage drive, CPU, and motherboard?

My PC does not meet the minimum requirements to upgrade to Windows 11 (Pro). In order to accommodate this upgrade I've bought a new storage drive, CPU, and motherboard. The new drive is much faster than the other drives, so I'd like to use it to store Windows instead of the original drive.

    • Is it possible to immediately activate Windows 11 after I install it on the new drive using an installation disk?
    • In case activation isn't possible because I don't own Windows 11 yet, would it work if I installed Windows 10 first and then upgraded to Windows 11 instead?
    • Or would it not activate either copy of Windows 10 or 11 because my PC isn't recognized as the original due to the changed parts?
I would very much appreciate any help or suggestions.
