    Can I use an OEM activation code from Win 8.1 for Win 10?


    I bought a laptop pre-installed with Win 8.1 many years ago. I had intended to upgrade to Win 10 from within Win 8.1. Unfortunately I completely wiped the hard drive. I have since managed to do a fresh Win 10 install on the same hard drive on the same laptop. I have a record of the Win 8.1 OEM product code but my new Win 10 does not accept it. It begins with OO or 00 and in both cases the system says the characters are not allowed. Is there any way I can use the product code, or is it a lost cause?

    Is it possible to directly upgrade from OEM installed Win 8 to win 10 using official iso without internet and the need to enter keys which is not possible to skip while installing win 10?

    Upgrade a Win 10 home OEM to Win 10 Pro OEM with Win 10 Pro OEM Key?

    I recently purchased a laptop that has an OEM version of Win 10 Home on it.

    I verified this by using : slmgr -dli.

    Previously I had purchased an OEM Win 10 Pro Key.

    Can I use this OEM Win 10 Pro Key to upgrade the OEM Win 10 Home to the OEM Win 10 Pro.

    If so what are the steps to accomplish this?

    In addition, I assume that is this is possible, that the current product key will be updated to the new product key?

    The reason I am asking this is that it's my understanding that these product keys are tied to the bios on a name brand laptop.
