Windows 10: Can I use Kiosk Mode/Assigned Access with a local app (App not in Microsoft Store)?

I'm trying to set up a kiosk that runs my application -- its not a Microsoft Store application. I'd like to run only my application, and remove access to the Desktop. Assigned Access seems to do this, but appears to work only with a Microsoft Store application. Is there a way to use my own application that is not in the Microsoft Store?

Win10 how to add app to Kiosk Mode list so I can assign it to a user


Running Windows 10, trying to set up PCs in Kiosk Mode. Everywhere I turn I find how to assign a user to pre-existing Apps in Kiosk Mode, but no one explains how to add an app, in my case an Internet Explorer Shortcut file, to the app list.

You'd think this would be mentioned somewhere.

I tried using Powershell using an administrative account on the PC, but got the following messages:
Get-AppxPackage : Access is denied
Access is denied.
At C:\windows\system32\windowspowershell\v1.0\Modules\AssignedAccess\AssignedAccess.psm1:127 char:22

and

Application was not found. Enter either a valid AppName or AUMID


Can anyone help?

Windows 10 Kiosk Mode- Microosft RDP app not connecting.

Hi all,

A quick response would be very much appreciated!

I've been asked to setup a windows 10 Pro PC- Kiosk mode using Assigned access.

Its not on a domain, but will connect if you enter the domain\server ip in on the local admin account of the PC.

However on the "Kiosk" account (sanded user) using the Microsoft RDP app it just sits connecting and does nothing more.

I'm very much stuck. Will getting pressured by the mangers ugh.

Firewalls don't seem to be blocking it.

Microsoft support doesn't want to help as its a Pro OS?
