Windows 10: Can I use my existing microsoft account on my new laptop or should I create a new account?

I just bought a new laptop with Windows 10 on it but before I set it up I need to know the best way to do it.The setup requires you to either use a current Microsoft Account or create a new one.If I use my current Microsoft Account for the new laptop will it affect my current Home PC?Will it sync stuff and if so what? The new OneNote for Windows 10 saves out on OneDrive now. Will I be able to access My notes on the laptop without issues and vice versa given the Office and OS version difference?see version info belowI want to be able to maintain my OneNotes in either place and keep them in sy

Setup a new PC by accidentally create new Microsoft/Admin Account instead of using existing MS/Admin account. How can I remove the new one and add back the existing one?

Hi Kenneth,

To be able to use your existing Microsoft account as your PC login credentials, the first thing that needs to be done is to create a new administrator account. Follow these steps to do so:

• Open the Settings app and then click on Accounts.
• Click on Other people and then click on Add someone else to this PC.
• Under the Local Users and Groups (Local), right click on Users folder and then choose New User.
  
  
• Fill up the form and then click on Create button. Make sure that you'll take note of the password that you'll set for the user account.
  
  
• Close the window and then open the Settings app.
• Click on Account and then click on Other peaople.
• Look for the newly created user account, click on it and then click on Change account type.
  
  
• Change the account type to Administrator and then click on OK button.

Follow these steps to be able to associate your existing Microsoft account to your new PC:

• Log out from the account you are currently using and then sign into the PC using the newly created user account.
• Open Settings, click on Accounts and then under Your info, click on Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.
• Input the information of your existing Microsoft account.

Follow these steps to remove a user account on your PC:

• Open the Settings app.
• Click on Accounts and then chose Other people.
• Click on the user account that you wish to remove and then click on Remove button.

Change Microsoft Account Details in Administrator Account

It's quite easy in fact, simply switch the account in question first to a local account, then switch back to a Microsoft account, this time using your wife's MS account credentials.

Notice that before doing this you need to remove the new additional MS account on the PC, the one you created with her credentials. Windows allows only one user account for each email address, if the new account exists you cannot switch the original administrator account to an MS account using the same email address. If the issue doesn't persists with new User Account, I would suggest you to fix the corrupted user account and check.

Method 1:

To create a new User Account follow these steps:

• Click on Start. Click on
  Settings.
• Type ‘Add, delete and manage other user accounts’ in search box.
• Now click on ‘Add someone else to this pc’.
• And follow the instructions to create a new User Account.
