Windows 10: Can I use my Gmail on an existing microsoft account by renaming the alias?

I have TWO accounts with gamertags, I would like to delete one microsoft account + gamertag, then use that Gmail on the other microsoft account + gamertag by renaming the alias on that account with my exisiting Gmail from the deleted account.I understand that there is a 60 day grace period until the deleted accounts' Gmail is available. Unable to change primary alias - Microsoft Account

Hi John,

As per the description, you are experiencing issue with you are unable to change the primary alias for your Microsoft account on the system.

I certainly understand your concern and appreciate all your efforts in trying to fix this issue.

I would like to provide you with the information that
an account alias is an email address or phone number that you use to sign in to your Microsoft account. You can have multiple aliases, and use any of them with Microsoft services such as Outlook.com, Skype, OneDrive,
Office, Xbox, Windows and more.

Your primary alias appears on devices such as your Xbox, Surface, and Windows Phone, and is the email OneDrive sends from when you share. You can choose a different alias to be the primary one at any time.

An alias is also the best way to change your email, but keep all your mail.
Add an alias, then make the new alias primary. Then you can
keep or remove the original alias.

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

• Sign in to the
  Microsoft account website.
• Under Account aliases, click/tap on the Make primary link to the right of an
  
  added email alias you want to be your primary alias.

Note: The email alias at the top of the list without a Make primary link is your current primary alias.

• Uncheck the Send me promotional offers from Microsoft box if you like, and click/tap on Yes to confirm.

You may also try the following steps given below and check if that helps.

• Navigate to Start>Settings>Account>Your Account.
• In the right pane, click on Sign in with a local account instead.
• Provide your current Microsoft Account Password.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.
• You can leave the Enter Password option empty, however, it is highly recommended to keep a password on your system to keep it safe.

How to add an email alias to an existing Gmail account? Microsoft oversight?

I have a Gmail account which I use for all my mail, and an alias email address (not a hosted account) that simply forwards all mail sent to it to the Gmail inbox. I use the alias email address as my primary address and I would like to set it up to be the
"From" address when I send email from my new Windows Phone 8, just like I can on my iOS and Android devices (not to mention every other email client I use for my desktops). Is it possible to do so or is this a huge oversight on Microsoft's part? Any feedback
is appreciated.

 

Change mail in Microsoft Account (not an Alias)

Hi Elise, thanks for your help.
The gmail account (alias) was already set as primary. I deleted the hotmail alias, just in case, but the result is the same. The mail account used by Microsoft is still the hotmail one. The gmail address works just as a username to login to Microsoft services, but the mail account used by Ms is still hotmail; in other words, the gmail account is just an alias.
What I am trying to is to replace the account. For instance, what do I need to do to receive the notifications about replies to this thread or the changes to my subscriptions in the gmail account instead of in hotmail?
