    Can I use my window 8.1 key to activate window 10 after updating?


    I currently have a laptop with windows 8.1 activated and I want to upgrade it to window 10, I will use media creation tool to create media on my usb drive from a non activated device , My main question is can I use my window 8.1 activation key and put it in during window 10 setup to get it activated ?I am currently using window 8.1 single language , do I have to choose a specific window 10 for which my window 8.1 key will work ? please help !!!

    I won't buy a key, stupid.

    I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

    When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
    is that causing the problem?

    Can I use my window 8.1 key to activate window 10 after updating?

    Windows 8.1 pro + WMC key activation

    This worked for me last time with a Win 8 key.

    Install Windows 8.1 and enter KMS key during setup. Once in windows change product key to my Windows 8 key. Go to add features and enter my WMC add-on key. Drink a beer to a job well done.
