Windows 10: can i use my windows 10Pro Workstation volum mak_channel a secoundpc?

Apologies for taking so long to figure it out. Somebody in another thread posted that they got a MAK key when buying the Pro Workstation upgrade, then it clicked. I had misread the first post. *Redface

i have then Volum MAK_channel... when i use cmd slmgr.vbs /dli.. can i install it on my laptop and my deskop pc? i have a digital key that i use when trouh e-mail.

Update Windows 8.1Pro PC to Windows 10 Pro

I have a Windows 8.1Pro PC and I am considering updating to Windows 10Pro

I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 10Home installed, however, I had that upgraded to Windows 10Pro. In order to upgrade it to Windows 10Pro I had to buy the Windows 10Pro disc.

I am wondering - Can I update my Windows 8.1Pro PC to Windows 10Pro using that Windows 10Pro disc, considering my 8.1Pro PC is eligible for the Free Update?

I have very limited quota on my internet connection due to it being a satellite service, besides the speeds being useless to download sizable files.

I reloaded my windows from 10 to 10pro, and settings such as brightness and volume are not working again. what can I do pleaseHE

As far as I know that doesn't apply to MAK (Multi Activation Keys), assuming you have a legitimate legal MAK key. I have access to them via My Visual Studio subscription (Formally MSDN). I can use that one key on multiple systems. They are meant to allow me to run / test Volume Licence Editions of Windows, like Enterprise. Normally the only way to activate Enterprise is VIA KMS. However, the only legal MAK keys are those you obtain directly from Microsoft.

remove the key from the system i use today on computer, and transfer it to the new motherboard.

 

Pretty well any PC with a Digital License can have that license transferred to another PC. Its very easy if its linked to your Microsoft ID. All my MAK install got a Digital License. I personally think that shouldn't happen and its a glitch but that's beyond my control.

I'm not sure what your saying or asking but
A Multiple Activation Key (MAK) enables you to activate multiple installations of a product with the same key. MAKs are generally used with Volume Licensing versions of products. Typically, only one MAK key is provided per subscription.

My interpretation is "multiple installations" means on more than one PC. Its like KMS but its a one time activation. No having to connect to the company KMS server every so often to stay activated. I don't know what the limit is for my MSDN keys? Probably 10 or maybe 20 activations.

 

I think I just figured out what dmholt57 was referring too. If you only paid for one upgrade to Pro Workstation (one license) then no, legally you can't use that MAK key on another PC.
When I originally read the first post I thought you bought a 10 Workstation key and had a separate MAK key. But what you actually have is just the MAK key that you got from Microsoft when you did the upgrade to workstation. Correct?

In a corporate setup you have to have purchased a license for every PC you activate with VL or MAK key. They are multiple activation, but you basically pay per device activated with those keys. I lose site of that with my MAK keys as they are for testing and I don't pay any licensing. I can keep using them until I hit my limit on activations and they stop working. Sorry if I confused things.
