Windows 10: Can I use software installed on a SSD external drive on two different PCs?

I wonder if it is possible to install and run software from an external ssd, on two different computers. Not at same time, but the same external harddrive. Will that work?

And what about single-licensed software installed with serialnumber. Will that work on one of them, both of them or none of them?

step 1: try with a different USB cable

step 2: take the drive out of the enclosure and connect it internally to your PC

quite likely the cable or enclosure has died. if you're re-initialising the disk you might actually be erasing it... so dont do that.
