Can I use win10 32 prod key in win10 64 in same machine?

    Hi,

I have the upgrade from win7 retail to Win10 x 32 on 1 drive and have installed from DVD Win 10 x 64 on another drive as a dual boot while I set up the 64. Both work fine.

I have an Active Product key for the 32 but the 64 keeps wanting me to Activate.

As I am not going to use the 32 anymore and it was from a retail Win7, can O use the Prod key from the 32 into the 64?

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Win7 Pro Upgrade 32 to Win10 Pro 64

    Hello,

I have a PC which originally had Win Vista Business 32-bit, upgraded to Win7 Professional 32-bit, then did a clean install to Win10 Pro 64-bit using the installation media provided on Microsoft's website. I was unable to use my 32-bit keys to activate Win10
Pro 64-bit. After some research, it seems I needed to upgrade from Win7 Professional 32-bit to Win10 Pro 32-bit using Windows Update or installation media, then take that key and write it down and use it later when I do a clean install of Win10 Pro 64-bit.

Before the clean install I used a program to find my product key for Win7 Pro 32-bit and wrote it down. If I wanted Win10 Pro 64-bit it seems I'd have to do another clean install of Win7 Pro 32, upgrade to Win10 Pro 32, then clean install Win10 Pro 64. Instead
of doing this time consuming task, is there some way I can get a key from Microsoft for Win10 Pro 64 bit, provided I have proof of my keys? The PC is currently running Win10 Pro 64-bit and is not activated.

    Thanks

    Recovery Disk for Windows 10

I've finished upgrading three computers to Win10.

Two are 64-bit and one is 32-bit.

    I created a Win10 64-bit "Repair disc" and a Win10 32-bit "Repair disc".

(Per Don's advice [thanks]) I also created a Win-10 64-bit "Recovery drive" (thumb drive) on one of the Win10 64-bit machines (and on the 32-bit machine).

    My questions:

    1) Is the Win10 64-bit "Repair disc" good for both of the Win10 64-bit computers or do I need to create a repair disc for each one. (in other words create a repair disc on each one)

    2) Is the Win10 64-bit "Recovery drive" thumb drive good for both of the Win10 64-bit computers or do I need to create a Recovery drive for each one. (in other words create a Recovery drive on each one)

    3) 32-bit programs can be run on 64-bit machines. Does that mean a 32-bit Recovery drive will work on a 64-bit machine?

I think the answer to 1 & 2 is that one W10 64-bit can be used on all W10 64-bit machines. However, I'd hate to have a problem with one and find out I'm wrong!

    Thanks

Can I use win10 32 prod key in win10 64 in same machine?

This is unclear. Upgrades do not get a product key but a digital licence tied to hardware id. It is irrelevant if OS is 32bit or 64bit.

If the 64bit version did not activate, then you have a mismatch eg you must install same version home/pro and additionally edition (normal, EU N or SL single language version) as the upgraded version.

    Thanks for the reply.

The 32 bit which I am using right now says.. Windows is activated and shows the Product ID: as 0300-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXX88.

Edition Windows 10 Pro Version 1511 OS Build 10586.545

Yes maybe I selected Windows Home when I did the install from the DVD.

If so how can I get back to Pro x 64 without having to lose all my new settings, shortcuts, programs etc?

    Thanks again

As far as I know, going from 32 bit to 64 bit requires a clean install. Your settings, shortcuts, and programs will all need to be re-installed.

Sorry that I can't offer better news.

    Hi again.

Sorry but is is confusing even to me and I'm up to my neck in it Can I use win10 32 prod key in win10 64 in same machine? :)

Yes the 64 was a clean install from the DVD onto another drive than what the 32 is on and it works fine except every now and then it says to Activate. I think I chose Home on this install instead of Pro which my 32 Win 10 is on the other drive.

Do you know if the Activation process includes the hard drive in its checking or just the mobo etc.

These two drives are all in the same box.

Can I use win10 32 prod key in win10 64 in same machine?

Supposedly, it's the motherboard that determines the system.

You need to install the version that matches the original activation (Pro).
