  2. Activation Problem and Date and Time Stamp Error

    What build were you running????

Is this the released build (10240) or an insider build?

    What was the underlying OS?

The early insider builds have expired and if that is the case you need to re-install the previous OS and then upgrade to the CURRENT insider build

  3. Problems with Taskbar load time and Start button right-click options

Are you saying to use one of the Windows Insider review builds? As far as the regular Windows Updates, I have the most up-to-date publicly available builds already installed.

If you want me to go ahead with the Windows Insider Preview build, I'll do that. I'm not sure if that is your intent though, since, as the website says:

"Remember, trying out an early build like this can be risky. That's why we recommend that you don't install the preview on your primary home or business PC."

What kind of error are you getting? Are you doing an upgrade or clean install?

Can you check your Disk Management and see how many 100 or 450MB partitions you have?
    Thanks............... working a hunch!

I don't really need a screenshot but it would help.
If he has more than one System Reserve partition that may be a clue to his problem.
I had one drive that had three SR partitions installed by previous failed attempts to install an O/S.
Removed all three and no problem installing Windows.
I don't think WinTP formats when it says it does???
    just a thought...............

  9. I have tried clean installs, upgrading from the Insider site reformatting drives removing all patitions, tried a completely new SSD,
rebuilt Windows 8.1 and tried all the above options after updating all Windows 8.1 updates. My PC is a SAmsung DP00A7A with i7 and 8g ram. I have been running Windows 8.1 on the PC with no hassles
    Error codes 0XC1900101-0X30017
also "the installation failed in the FIRST-BOOT phase with an error during the BOOT operation."

What surprises me is that the earlier builds I mentioned I had no problems so I would have thought the BIOS setting would be correct
    Thanks for any help

Right now you are running 8.1 can you please show us your disk management pic. Also are you burning a dvd or making a usb bootable drive to boot the iso. Something changed from the first build you installed. So start with that. A upgrade from 8. Or a clean boot from the ISO?

  12. USB to boot ISO. I have tried using setup from USB as well as clean installs It appears to be a Samsung problem as I have upgraded several other machines using clean installs as well upgrading using setup and saving all files etc
These have included DELLS HP Lenovo some of them are quite old.

    More confusion.............
My WAG was wrong but where did the 350MB partition come from?
    That partition is usually 100MB???

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/i...6-aadf912bcc63

    Others have the same problem.
have you checked answers from Google?

    Found some answers.
The 100MB partitions I ran into previously were hold-overs from a previous Win7 installs
You have the 350MB partition installed by Win8 so I don't have an answer... sorry

  15. I will give Rufus a try, although I would have thought, that by working through the Windows Insider upgrade site There shouldn't have been problems
