Windows 10: can microsoft help me find product key if i have partial product key

can microsoft help me find product key if i have partial product key? I recently upgraded my pc and it says my windows is not activated? That is weird...

installed windows 10 home on laptop that had windows 7. funny thing partial product key shown in license is not in product key

so microsoft is showing the partial generic key on license, so if I upgrade to windows pro do I still skip enter product key like when I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10?

and why is command prompt still showing OEM product key which now seems useless?

There can be several reasons partial Product Key doesn't match - it might be Product ID instead, or is the Key from Factory OEM which was upgraded? The Windows 7 OEM key used for free Upgrade will never appear in Windows, even in Windows 7 the partial key that
appears is a batch key used at factory. The actual key is on the COA sticker on PC.

When you first Upgrade to Windows 10 it assigns a permanent Digital License for the PC in Microsoft Activation servers so that you can reinstall Windows 10 at any time, skipping the Product Key during install, and it will reactivate afterwards when you connect
to the internet and it phones home to find your hardware profile confirming the Digital License.

Even retail or embedded Windows 10 OEM keys may convert to a Digital License, which is how Microsoft wants to manage these now with the Activation Troubleshooter when moving the license or reactivating.

Inserting any other than the Generic Version key (with which Windows installs if you don't insert a product key during install) for a Digital License will not activate until the generic version key is restored:
