  1. Can NET VIEW Ignore Server Using SMBv1?

I have, for some time, been fighting the "SMBv1" battle.

Some progress has been made: I managed to get a computer to not only show up under Network but actually display its shared directories. It had stopped doing so at some time in the past; when, I do not know, for a directory of shortcuts to those directories kept right on working. It is as if there were two separate networks, one of which works, and one of which … sometimes doesn't.

Even more progress was made when I was referred to the Event Log and was able to identify the device that is using SMBv1. Unfortunately, the device is both vital and unsupported. And, anyway, being one of those devices with weird OSes and weirder processors, I doubt that it has enough RAM to hold SMBv2 since, as has been shown time and time again the improved version is /always/ at least 10 times the size of the original.

This device runs a music server which has to continue to recognize a music server running on my main computer (it has to connect to it and play playlists from it, from time to time). But it does /not/ have to make its files available to the Network so it may not need any version of SMB.

I had to consult the error log because NET VIEW produces an error message that does /not/ identify the server, nor does it list the other server(s) that (presumably) can and do use SMBv2 (or v3, who can say?). This is very unhelpful; indeed, the message makes it sound as if the main computer, running Win10, is using SMBv1 when, in fact, nothing could be further from the truth; it is, in fact, precisely when the time is up and SBMv1 is disabled under Win10 that this stuff begins happening.

So, my question is, is there some way to convince NET VIEW to ignore a particular server, and so presumably work with an "SMBv1-free" network? I am hoping that this would also improve the Network folder, which has not shown the main computer for a long long time.

I was thinking of a line in, say, HOSTS, but the current HOSTS file has a lot less info in it than I remember from the past.

    :)

Can NET VIEW Ignore Server Using SMBv1?

    how to activate SMBv1

Our server still uses SMBv1 for file sharing and mapping. Windows no longer supports SMBv1. How do I apply SMBv1 on a Windows workstation.
