Windows 10: Can no longer connect to wifi

Or at least I can't access the web. Every device I have connects to wifi no problem, but not my laptop. My connection says "No internet, open." I've had this issue several times in the past but have always been able to fix it in Powershell with ipconfig /release, ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /renew. All of the sudden that trick no longer works.

With release I get the message "An error occurred while releasing interface wifi: An address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint."

With the renew command I get "An error occurred while renewing interface wifi: The operation was cancelled by the user."

Again, these commands always fixed the problem before, so I can't understand what changed. I've also tried netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset.

I've tried disabling antivirus and firewall. I also tried to do a system restore to see if that helps but I keep getting an error with that too, and none of the solutions I've found online fix that either.

No suggestions 've found on google has helped. Any new ideas would be greatly appreciated.

When will the wifi connectivity problems be solved?


OK, so the Windows 10 engineers bollixed up the wifi connectivity part of the operating system. Everybody knows that by now. It seems they are making some progress in resolving it. Now, instead of seeing "Secured, No Internet" on your list of wifi connections, you see "Connected, Secured" EXCEPT no webpages will load. So you really aren't connected. It does seem to be a step in the right direction. Does anybody know when they plan on a full and complete repair of this screw up of epic proportions?

I've got 4 systems connecting via wireless; all adapters are different makes; all have zero issues, and two of them are old (wireless-G only). Most every issue I have seen with wireless connections has been driver-related. (Or, impending router failure.) I would suggest identifying your adapter model/make, and searching for different drivers that you can try out. And, sometimes an older driver works better than a newer one (just had this issue on a system I was working on yesterday). Also, verify you have these same connection issues when connecting to different routers, just to rule that out.

 

Can't uncheck WIFI "Connect Automatically"

Have you tried removing the network from the list? Your network credentials may still be saved on your Wifi settings.

We suggest you to remove the preferred network and reconnect it. Follow the steps below:

• Press Windows icon.
• Click Settings.
• Select Network and Internet.
  
• On the left pane, click Wifi.
• Click on link Manage Wifi Settings.
• There is prompt, click on Manage known networks
• Select the network you want to forget.

Once you remove the network it will no longer appear on the list. You may need to reconnect it, if you want.
