  1. Can no longer open anything in Microsoft 2013 or print after latest Windows updates

Since the last updates in Windows 10, I am unable to open any program or any file in Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. The message that comes up is: "We're sorry, but Excel has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. Excel or Word or powerpoint will need to be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now". I click the box "Repair Now" and within 10 seconds my file closes and nothing is fixed. I have been unable to uninstall the 3 updates which I believe has caused this problem and the inability of my old HP Laserprinter to be able to print. The printing issue

  2. after latest windows 10 update, I cannot even print offline, also it says is preview loading, but it does not

    Hi Lynn,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community and being a part of Windows 10.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing in offline printing after installing the latest update on your device. Let me try to help you with this issue.

Do provide us additional information to assist you better with this issue:

    • Which was the latest update installed on your device?
    • What is the complete error code/ error message of this issue?
    • Is this issue confined to printing any specific document?

Try few of the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to try the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the Microsoft article and check if it helps.

    Fix printer problems

Step 2: I suggest you to check the status of
    Print Spooler service and check.

Print Spooler service, spools print service and handles interactions with the printer.
If you turn off this service you won’t be able to print or see your printer.

    Steps:

    • Press Windows + R to open Run command, type
      Services.msc and press Enter.
    • Search for Printer Spooler service, right click on it and
      Start the service.
    • Also, set the Startup type to Automatic.
    • Now check if you are able to install the driver.

Hope it helps. Reply to the post with the required information and an updated status of this issue for further assistance.

  3. Can no longer update Windows XP?

This is due to the root certificates having expired. You need to open Control Panel, then open Add/Remove Programs, and then click Add/Remove Windows Components; the option to update root certificates should be right at the bottom. Unfortunately, Microsoft no longer provides updates for root certificates, so you need to install service pack 3 and IE8, then go to http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate and hope it works. It should download the latest version of the root certificates update, which while still outdated, it better than nothing. I have to deal with this all the time and it's a pain in the ass.

  4. x509 Win User

Can no longer open anything in Microsoft 2013 or print after latest Windows updates

Word and Excel 2013 now crash when I try to print or edit-Outlook OK

Trying to print or edit in Office 2013 Word and Excel now causes the program to crash. Outlook works fine.

the following have not fixed the problem.
    1. Repair install of Office 2013
    2. Uninstall (with Revo Pro) and then full re-install
    3. Uninstall and then reinstall of the HP Laserjet printer drive.

What is my next step, short of nuking the entire Win installation and starting over (ugh!)???
