Windows 10: Can not change my start bar apps color

I just recently did an update on my MS Surface Book 3.... originally had purple as the accent color of my apps on the start bar....currently it is defaulted to grey and it will not let me change the color. You can choose any color but it will give you grey as default.


Setting right now --in Personalization --->Colors section

---choose your color **dark

---choose your default windows mode **dark

---choose your default app mode **dark

--Transparency effects **on

--Choose your accent color **purple



--start,taskbar, and action center **not check

--title bars, and windows borders ** not check





This is Windows 10 Home

version 10.0.19042 Build 19042

Changing the taskbar color to white in Windows 10

In Windows 10 there is no option for changing the color to white but you can change it to different colors. To change the color of the task bar I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• In the search box, type settings.
• Then select personalization.
• Click on color option on the left side.
• You will find an option called “show color on start, taskbar and start icon”.
• You need to on the option and then you can change the color accordingly.

How to change the text color in the start/all app dir?

This issue might occur if there is change in Start Menu.

To assist you to better, please provided us the information below:

• When you say that "my text in my start/all app dir is not visible", are you referring that text content in the Start menu is not visible?
• Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

I suggest you to follow the steps below to change the color in the Start Menu and check if it helps.

1. Click on Search bar.

2. Then type "Start settings" without the quotes in the search bar and click on it.

3. Click on Start.

4. Make changes in Start menu settings.

5. Also if you want to make changes in color settings of the Start Menu. Click on Colors in the Start settings and make changes accordingly.

How do I change taskbar/folder title bar text colors? in Windows 10

• Do you want to change the taskbar's color or the taskbar's text color?

If you want to change the taskbar's color, follow the steps below:

• Go to Settings and select Personalization.
• Select Color.
• Turn "Automatically pick an accent color from my background" Off and select the color which you wish to have.
• Turn "Show color on Start, taskbar, action center, and title bar" On.

If you want to change the taskbar's text color, follow the steps below:

• Go to Settings and select Personalization.
• Select Color and click on High contrast settings.
• Now select the color of your wish and Apply.
