Windows 10: can not find script file c:\users\public\edge.vbs

Split from this thread. Hello Ramesh, I found myself today with the exact same problem. I tryed to dowload the Farbar Fixlist.exe, but is seems that it's not available anymore. Can you please update the link?

The solution is to basically recreate that file and put an exit script into it

Open Windows File Exporer and navigate to:

C:\Users\Public\Libraries\Checks

If the file Checks.vbs exists:

Right click it and open it in Notepad

Replace all the contents of that file with:

Wscript.Quit

If the file does not exist in that folder, right click and choose New - Text Doument

Put this text in that file: Wscript.Quit

Then click File - Save As

At the bottom of the save as dialog, set save as type to *.*

Save the files as Checks.vbs

Note you must enter the vbs file extension yourself

Restart your PC

when running a .bat file with the following script, the copy fails. --- robocopy "c:\users\public\public documents\foldername" "e:\copyfolder" /mir /eta /r:1 /w:1 /log:c:\robolog\logfile.txt

However, when running the same script with 'public documents' changed to 'documents', the script runs ok.

--- robocopy "c:\users\public\documents\foldername" "e:\copyfolder" /mir /eta /r:1 /w:1 /log:c:\robolog\logfile.txt

why is 'public documents' a pseudoname?

I should note that after a change to the script, I have to always remember to save the .bat file as UTF-8, or the quotes in the script cause problems, too.

note that the --- characters used above are just for effect in this discussion & are not part of the operational script
