Windows 10: Can not get 1920x1080 resolution back since upgrade to Windows 10

Since upgrade to windows 10 yesterday my screen resolution is wrong. 1920x1080 is now not available.
Graphics card is ATI Radeon X1600 (Pc is quite old) Have looked on AMD website and cannot find driver.
Have tried windows update, but all up to date. Display adapter shows as microsoft basic display adapter.
any help please, current resolution is not good for my eyes.*Shock

Screen resolution - ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics Card.

1. Upgraded to Windows 10 (from Win 7) about a month or two after Win 10 free upgrade became available.

2. The graphics card is ATI Radeon 3000, the resolution is 1920x1080. it has been running fine until a week or so ago.

The bottomline is that it had been working for a long long time.

3. Then icon and text became much larger. Resolution became different, and the highest choice became 1280x1024.

4. There is no choice of 1920x1080.

5. Did a "system restore" to an earlier date when it was working. Everything was fine, the resolution came back as 1920x1080.

6. After using the computer for a few minutes, the screen resolution changed (icon became bigger).

7. The resolution became 1024x768. The highest choice was 1280x1024.

8. Choice of resolution of 1920x1080 is not available.

The "system restore" can get back the resolution to 1920x1080. But it can stay that way only for a few minutes.

How to update Graphic card drivers in Windows 10?

7/30/2017: I have an HP Pavilion p6100z computer (product NY801AV#ABA. s/n MXV93805SS).
Last month I added an HP Pavilion 27xw monitor. My new monitor worked fine at 1920x1080 resolution with Windows 7.
Yesterday I upgraded to Windows 10 and now cannot set my display resolution back to 1920x1080. MS 10 claims that I have a “Generic non PnP Monitor”.
What actions must I take to get the proper display driver so I can get back to the native 1920x1080?

 

The latest driver I can find for that card is for Vista, it looks as though it may not be possible to run the card on Windows 10 unfortunately.

 

If Vista is the last supported OS, OP should be able to use those drivers in Windows 10 without issue. I have an old Auzentech X-Fi Prelude audio soundcard using Vista x64 drivers on Windows 10 x64 OS. Also used the same Vista drivers in Windows 7 x64 as well. Have not encountered any real issues using Vista drivers on any of them.

 

Thanks for info, have solved problem by putting a spare graphics card in PC and all now ok. Windows 10 automatically updated driver for card.
