Can NOT get a network in Windows 10 set up. Finally asking for help.

This post looks long, but please read. I do need help Can NOT get a network in Windows 10 set up. Finally asking for help. :). Ever since Homegroup was removed, I have struggled to maintain my home network. I was somehow able to get it working several months ago, but just do not remember how. I had to reformat/reinstall Windows 10 on my main PC. I went to remap a drive on my wife's laptop to a drive on my PC and discovered that the network is all sorts of messed up. So, I have 5 devices that I want connected on my network: 2 desktops and 3 laptops. They all see a different mixture of devices. My laptop sees itself, my wife's laptop, and the 2nd PC, whereas my main PC sees my wife's laptop, the 2nd PC, but not itself, my laptop, or a spare laptop. Just 5 minutes ago, my PC could see ALL of the devices on the network (except for itself) but this changed after I rebooted my router to see if that would fix the issue (which it didn't). Now, I have done the following on all these devices, and I just went to double-check that this is still the case, and indeed, they are all still setup this way: 1) all my devices have all windows 10 updates, and are running windows 10 21H1. 2) they are all connected to the same router. 3) the connection is private. 4) Under advanced sharing, Private networks: every device has network discovery ON, with the automatic setup checkbox checked, file and printer sharing is ON. Under All networks: sharing of public folder is OFF (don't want that crap), using 128-bit encryptions, and password protected sharing is OFF. 5) Services.msc, I have the following services set to Automatic (delayed) and have confirmed they are all currently running: Function Discovery Provider Host, Function Discovery Resource Publication, SSDP Discovery, and UPnP Device Host. 6) just to be safe, I have Use Sharing Wizard checked in the File Explorer options. I'm not sure what else to do. I have followed all the guides and tutorials I can find. The only thing I haven't done is enable SMB1 because I don't know what that is, but know that it isn't secure. What else can I do to get my network up and running? Thanks again for reading, and helping!!

    :)

  2. Help needed with simple wired network

Step one- Connect all PC's to router, and then the router to the modem. PC's go to router by the ports labeled "1-4" on the back of the router. WAN port goes to router. Power up all network equipment, and then systems.
Step two- Power on the computer connected to port one. Go into router settings at 192.168.0.1 and configure internet, dyndns, firewall, etc.
Step three- Go to "network set up wizard" in windows. (Network places- network set up wizard). The rest is self explanatory.
Step four- right click on each drive and printer you want to share, and then configure sharing preferences. Should be easy enough.
Step five- right click my computer, and the select "map network drive". Using the network address for each piece of hardware you shared, assign network drive letters.

Congratulations, you have a fully operational network. Happy Gaming! *Toast :toast:

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.
