Windows 10: Can Not Get Recovery to work

Hi everyone.
I just got back from holiday and turned on my PC. Now, it was working just fine before I left, but now it takes forever to do anything. 10 minutes to open outlook, or any other apps for that matter. Anyway, as it stands it's now a door stop.
I tried using the Windows 10 recovery both from Start\System and also using a DVD that I burned. In both instances it looks like it going through the process fine, if a bit slow, but at the end of the process all I get is a line saying that there was a problem, and the recovery didn't work.
I'm thinking that there could be HDD issues, but thought I'd check here first to see if anyone has had this issue before and if there could be a solution.

Still can not get start menu to work so as to get to my apps since last update.

It took me sometime to get this problem fix on my PC, but after I went online and found a video I have it working.

How long who knows...................

Question :
When was your DVD burnt ?
Was it when Win 10 version was 10240 ?

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
It will let you keep your files, settings and apps.
No product key is required.
Activation will be automatic.

 

Thanks Davidhk, but I've tried that option. My PC does work a lot slower that what's shown in the video. For instance, the Preparing page probably takes 10-15minutes to complete. Then it goes through what looks like the process of recovery, but at the end It says there was a problem and can't do it. I've tried this way, and also from a DVD that I burned from ISO provided by the Microsoft site, using both the Setup.exe and booting from the DVD.

Try creating a new local user account, change it to administrator privileges if you want, log into the new account and see how the computer acts on the new account.

 

I gave it a try NAVYLCDR, but to no avail. It took about 20 minutes to create the new account and I had the same issues when I tried to use it. Good idea though. I should have thought of that myself. Thanks though.
