Windows 10: Can not install intellitype for microsoft wireless comfort keyboard 4000

microsoft wireless comfort keyboard 4000 model 1045I have used windows 10 with this keyboard for a very long time.I have just built a new computer and installed the latest windows 10 on itthen i tried to install the intellitype software and I get this messageThis app can't run on this deviceIntelliType / IntelliPointMicrosoftThis app can't run because it causes security or performanceissues on Windows. Can not get my Microsoft Comfort Keyboard 4000 model 1045 to work tried the driver update did not help

Keyboards and mice DO NOT NEED drivers in order to perform their basic functions. The extra software merely provides the extra functionality that the company selling the hardware touts in order to get you to buy a particular product.

In what way does the keyboard not work?

What "driver update" did you install?

The customized features of the Comfort Keyboard 4000 are not supported by the latest Microsoft keyboard software (Mouse and Keyboard Center 13). You have to use either the
Mouse and Keyboard Center 2.3 or IntelliType Pro 8.2 (if you only have the keyboard and not the matching wireless mouse).

If the keyboard doesn't function at all, the first thing to check is the batteries; next, plug the transceiver into a different USB port.

If neither of those steps fixes things, uninstall all mouse/keyboard software (click Start, type appwiz.cpl, press Enter), reboot, and check for operation. To get the special keys to work, install either Mouse and Keyboard Center 2.3 or IntelliType Pro

Is there a difference bewteen Wireless Comfort Keyboard Model 1027 and 1045?

There might be some software differences in Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1045 when compared to Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1027 model. Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1045 may not be compatible with the current operating software.



Method 1: I suggest you to download the latest software for the Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1045 from the manufacturer’s website and check fit the issue is resolved.



Method 2: If the issue persist, run the keyboard in
compatibility mode by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.



Compatibility mode runs the program in the current version of Windows using the settings from previous version of Windows.

• Download the latest keyboard driver software from the manufacturer’s website.
• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on properties.
• Click on the compatibility tab check the box
  Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows 10 operating system from the drop down menu. Proceed with the installation.
• Restart the computer once the installation is complete and check if the changes are effective.
