Windows 10: can not open files or programs from desktop in safe or normal mode. Windows 10 running very...

My computer has been playing up since late November and I have not been able to use it since then. i have had black screens with mouse a blue screen. some times Ican log in other times it takes an eternity. i had difficulty getting into safe mode but have run a scndsk and had lots of files that the computer had difficulty reading.

I tried rebooting to an earlier registry but it couldnt and the error according to google etc said i need to shut down my nortons firewalls etc as this may be interfering with the process.

I have backed up file using note book but quite a few files some pdfs had issues with being copied so i skipped them. These were the ones that the scan disk etc tried to repair aferwards

I can open task manager in safe mode and it runs slowly but i cant find or know how to run nortons from that point.

i am feeling very old and out of touch with technology at the moment!

I have a feeling the disk is damaged as lap top has been accidently dropped by toddler a few times. It looks like the drive has been partitioned when it was “born” the computer was an ex demo so windows already loaded.

Can’t afford to go to an it shop at the moment.....

Prior to issues i had finally found Hibernate function and started using that as it was hidden and i liked using it on my hp pavillion. I now have a lenovo laptop.

Boot into Safe Mode on Windows 10  


I am stuck in Safe Mode in spite of following all the suggested steps to go back to Normal Startup - Like opening file location of msconfig.exe & running as Administrator. The computer I am trying to get out of safe mode has just been updated from Windows 7.

Safe mode is intended to help fix most, if not all problems within an operating system, it's not good if we got stuck on it. To correct this, we suggest that you follow the steps below to exit out of Safe mode:

• Open Run command by pressing Windows key + R
  keys on the keyboard and type msconfig in the command box and press
  Enter.
• Under General tab, put a check on Normal Startup option.
• Reboot the system and check if the changes are effective.

Let us know if you are able to exit out of Safe mode with these steps.

 

Can't boot into Normal/Safe Mode with Networking, only safe mode...


Good Evening,
I could do with some pointers on resolving an issue. I can only boot into windows in safe mode in Windows 10. Normal mode and safe mode with networking doesn't work. The problem occurred after a windows update. I have removed the latest updates that were installed and cleared any pending ones but it still won't boot properly. I have also run the troubleshooter and tried to recovery to an earlier date which also doesn't work.
The laptop is a HP ENVY 17 notebook. At boot it just gets to the HP logo with the circular loading icon and no further and can only boot it into safe mode. Can anyone recommend the next steps? I have also tried the following;

• stopping startup items
• uninstalling hardware drivers
• removing recent software
• running troubleshooters at boot
• sfc scan
• diagnostic/selective startups with minimal services running

Would the fact that I cant boot into Safe Mode with Networking imply its a network driver related issue?
Bit of a dead end really, any help would be much appreciated
