    can't open JPG files in windows10 all of a sudden

    When trying to open JPG files I am all of a sudden gett int the "Class not registered" message. I followed the instructions from the post

    How to fix error message "Class not registered" in Windows 10 when opening pictures/photos

    But it didn't find any problems. Seems like there was a windows 10 update just before all this started 2 days ago. Any suggestions of how I can rectify this?

    A corrupt file is one of the possible reasons why you get this error when opening JPG files in Windows 10. We just want to confirm, how you are trying to open the pictures. Is it through the Photo app?

    We suggest that you run a System File Checker (SFC) scan to check for any file corruption. SFC scan will scan for corrupt system files on the computer and repair them.

    • Press Windows key + X, click Command Prompt (Admin).
    • In the Command Prompt, type the following command, and then press Enter:

      sfc /scannow

    We appreciate your response, Roy. Since there was no changes has been made on the computer, we suggest that you repair the
    Photo viewer and see if it'll fix the issue. Here are the steps on how:

    • Click on Start menu, then type in Apps and features.
    • Look for Photo on the list, then select Repair.
    • Close the windows, then try to open a .jpg file again in Photo viewer.

    We'll be glad to hear your feedback.
