  1. Can not write files to DVDs in Windows 10.

I cannot write any DVDs at this point, I've tried on my desktop and laptop with the built in DVD players as well as two different USB powered DVD readers/writers. I've also tried three or four different types of blank DVDs. I even replaced the DVD player in my PC thinking that it was bad. Every time I get to the point of burning the files onto the DVD I get an error box stating that Windows can't read the DVD inserted.

All players seem to work up to that point. The Disc shows inserted in the player in My PC with how much free space is remaining so the computers are reading the blank disc at that point. If I click on the DVD icon the box opens to proceed to burn images. It will copy the files to be burned and the tells me they are ready. As I said before when I try to actually burn them to disc, that is when I get the error message.

This has been going on since I upgraded to Windows 10 on my PC and about a year on my laptop. I'm not sure when it started on the laptop, after one of the updates to windows.

Any ideas what I can do to fix this?

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Writing to DVD

    Hi Ernie,

The error "The source and destination file names are the same." means that File Explorer sees same file names. For us to better assist you with this, what app are you using to burn a DVD?

In the meantime, you may follow the steps below to resolve the error:

    • Move the files to another location and rename it there.
    • Move the renamed files to the original location.
    • Then try to burn again.

We're looking forward to your reply.
