Can Only See other Network Devices on Wired Connection

I've just got a new laptop, and have set up all the sharing as I have on my other machines. so the desktop can be seen across other devices in the network. However the it can only see other computers on the network, and they can only see it, when it's on a wired connection to my router (It uses a USB-Ethernet converter, as it doesn't have its own ethernet socket.

Any ideas how I can get the share to work when I'm on wifi?

When I open file explorer and click network it only sees itself. Diagnostic doesn't find a problem.

    Hope someone can help!
    Thanks

    :)

  2. Networking: wifi devices can see wired and vice versa

sure where to start to solve the problem (the main issue is I want my wifi devices to see the NAS..

    N800 wired to a LAN

I wonder if I can connect my N800 to a wired network, in case of being in an environment without wireless capability. I only see a UBS port on the device. Would it be possible to do it through this port?

Can Only See other Network Devices on Wired Connection

Some routers are faulty like this. My current Netgear NP4V, supplied by my Internet provider, does this. Data is not passed
    between wifi and ethernet layers.

Is this problem seen on other wireless connected devices?
