Can see a PC in Network Neighborhood But can't connect to share

There are 5 PCs on a network.

PC1 is running as a server for a program Think Quickbooks as an example. The 2 folders are shared from PC1.

All of the computers can see PC1 and see/map/use the shared drives except PC2.

PC 2 can see PC1 in network neighborhood and can ping it by name and IP. But when you try to use the shares, it gives an error that the path could not be found. If I try to map it with the net use command, I get an error that the group policies do not allow guest access.

I have tried everything that I can find to fix it:

changed the setting in the Group Policy Manager

    installed SMBv1

checked, changed, reset and reconfigured advanced sharing options

edited the registry entry for lanman settings

    reset winsock

    reinstalled network adapters

    entered PC1 in lmhosts

made sure it wasn't in a non-existant homegroup

changed services to automatic Function Discovery Provider Host, Function Discovery Resource Publication, SSDP Discovery, UPnP Device Host

and probably a few other things that I can't remember. Nothing works or even seems to get me closer to the solution.

    What can I be missing?

    :)

  2. Can see Networked PC's in network neighborhood, but can not connect to them

    good morning,

I have followed the steps in the troubleshooter, , great feature except it didn't work... It told me "Windows needs more information to solve the problem"... which is kind of worthless.... What I know is before upgrading to windows 10 I could access any
printer or shared folder on the network and after upgrading I can still access the printer. All three of the PC's can 'see' each other in the Network Neighborhood, but receive an error when trying to access them. Using the Diagnostics simply tells me 'troubleshooting
couldn't identify the problem' ...again pretty worthless for trying to trouble shoot a problem. I am within the 30 window to rollback to win7 when everything worked...please advise.

All PCs are with three feet of each other and have internet access, and can share the printer. However none can access Public folders....

hmm, i will assumer no responces = no, i cannot share it... lucky me, i finally got it to work in 7 with steps pretty close... Program Files > Pantech is where you will need to point windows to inorder to the card running in 7... though it would be nice to be able to share hardware and network connections from a VM to the host PC...

    1. Open Admin command and type: ipconfig

    2. Win+X->Control Panel->Netwok and Sharing Center
Follow the screen shot. This should disable internet access from this PC but allows access to local device(s)
NOTE: Use the IP & Subnet Mask from step 1. Leave Default gateway & DNS Server blank
