    Can sorting-by-pronunciation be maded available if Region Format is English?


    In Control Panel -> Region -> Additional Settings, there is a sorting tab to choose Sorting Method, if I choose Format = Chinese. The desirable method is Pronunciation.


    If I choose English, this sorting tab does not exist and the sorting is NOT by pronunciation.


    Is there a way to keep Format = English by make it sort by pronunciation for Chinese charactors?

    Hi Terak51,

    Thank you for posting on the forum.

    According to your post, you are located in US but Cortana says it is not available in your region.

    As TomBrad95 suggested, please check that your region and language settings are set to 'English (United States)'.

    First, go to Settings > Language. The language at the top of the list needs to be English United States. You can tap and hold on a language to 'move up' the list.

    Then go to Settings > Region. Please ensure that 'country/region' is set to US, and that region format matches phone language.

    Now, please restart the phone. After the phone has restarted, please check if Cortana is now on the phone.

    Region setting date format: can it use different locale/language?

    I have a bit different problem.

    The display language is set to English.

    Format though, is set as Chinese. Without it, it would not allow the option to sort by pronunciation.

    For date, the desired format is in English.

    So the format has locale A. Can the date be using locale B?

    Regional Format options are limited to English

    My use case is basic and something I always did on Win7: I want windows to display the UI in English but use regional settings to Portuguese so that date formats, money, decimals, etc, are in Portuguese format.

    When I go to settings > region, I can set region to Portugal but on the second dropdown for regional format I only get options saying English (...). Is there a way to select portuguese as regional format or do I have to manually change all data formats to
    my liking?
