Windows 10: can,t sign in with password on my laptop

i checked for updates this morning and all their was was a security update,after it updated successfully i did a restart , now when my login screen comes up i don,t have the option to put in my password, it just ask for a pin number which i have but when i try to use the shift key to start to put in my pin it won,t put in the # sign. when i get on the internet by going through reset pin which i cancel, i can use the shift key then to put the # sign in. Help Please

About your concern with typing the password after being idle, it is actually recommended to activate for security reasons.

If you wish to disable it, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Settings.
• Click on Accounts.
• Click on Sign in options.
• On the right side, you will see required sign in.
• Change it to Never.

If you are using Microsoft account to login to Windows 10, there is no option to disable the password and sign in to Windows 10 directly without entering password.

Step 1:

If you are using Local account to login to Windows 10, you can disable the password and sign in to Windows 10 directly without entering password. Follow the below steps if you use Local account.

  Press Windows + I keys to open
  settings menu.
  
• 
  Click on Accounts.
  
• 
  Click on Sign in options.
  
• 
  Click on Change under Change your account password.
  
• 
  Enter your current password and leave the other two files for new password as empty and close the windows by clicking on
  OK button.

  Sign out and try to sign in again and check.
  

Step 2:

You may also create the 4 digit PIN which will reduce your time to enter full password. Follow the below steps.

• 
  Press Windows + I keys to open
  settings menu.
  
• 
  Click on Accounts.

  Click on Sign in options.
  
• 
  Click on Add under PIN.
  
• 
  Follow the onscreen instructions to create Pin.
  
• 
  Sign out and try to sign in again using PIN as your Sign in option.

Sign in to desktop - cant sign in using password, Changed password, STILL CANT SIGN IN USING PASSWORD

• I attempted to sign into my Microsoft on my laptop with password. It failed.
• I tried a 2nd time , there was a clue to the password but it didn't match to what I thought the present password is

I signed in using image . This was fine.

1. I changed my account password and the next day there was a confirmation of the change
2. I tried to sign in with the password. It didn't work
3. On second try the same old clue to password came up

What is happening here ??? I cant change the password at point of password as i have no USB as requested

What password has been changed and why isn't it working to open on my laptop Microsoft account.
