Can this motherboard boot from a USB device

Hi guys first post here ,

BIOS Version/Date Phoenix Technologies, LTD ASUS M2N-E SLI ACPI BIOS Revision 0801, 25/04/2007

This is an older MB and I have installed Windows 10 as a fresh install now and its running nicely .

The Question is would I be able in the future to install windows via a USB Stick as there's no option in the BIOS as a first boot device.

This is in case I ever have a situation where I can't get back into Windows and need to reinstall my OS.

Hope this kind of makes sense lol

    Regards *Smile

  2. On Ubuntu 16.04 Currently, need help going to Windows 10

Your motherboard treats USB flash as HDD drive. It is common for older hardware.

Looks like you can select only one HDD for boot at a time, so there must be separate selection of HDD priority in BIOS. Connect USB flash, go to BIOS, put it on first place in HDD list, and then select it in boot devices list.

  3. Windows 10 USB boot fail

After recieving several odd crashes (claimed it was nvidia drivers, but i have completely cleaned the drivers and swapped the card) i decided i was going to update the bios and do a repair install of windows 10.

Unfortunately, before i git around to it, the machine crashed and started giving me the hal.dll error on boot. So i setup a usb recovery drive, and another usb drive with the latest bios (turns out i already have the latest bios). But everything i try to
get it to boot to the usb recovery drive fails. Originally it was acting as thoight the device wasnt there (please insert drive and press enter), then it was giving me stats on my usb device rather than booting from it, now it just goes to a blank black screen
with the flashing dos prompt underscore in the upper left of the screen with nothing else.

The usb device has the proper files, set up from the windows recovery tool. The motherboard sees and can identify the drive in the bios. I have tried both selecting the boot device (f8) and setting the boot priority. I have read other discussions and they
suggest setting the bios to legacy mode (not present in the bios i have)

    Please help!

Can this motherboard boot from a USB device

USB is considered as Removable device. Does it have this option in the BIOS ?
