Windows 10: Can Windows 11 display HDR images .jxr or .webp images as backgrounds in a slideshow?

.jxr and .webp files do not appear on the desktop background when a folder is selected in a slideshow first image, despite being able to be set as background from the Photos app although .jxr looks like it has been tonemapped to SDR as shown in the second image. Is there any way to have these other image files, like .jxr and .webp as desktop backgrounds in a slideshow? I have HDR enabled in Settings.

I read that MS Edge supports the image format, and I'm wondering if that extends to the Backgrounds feature.

because you did not switch hdr on in windows settings and did not set `output color depth` to 12 bpc in nvidia control panel. had tried it already with hdr switched off and you are right, the image appears to be the same : because the rec. 2100 color space and the st. 2084 eotf is not applied by the viewer.
hdr switched on : you will notice that microsoft photos, at image loading, will quickly apply the correct [rec. 2100 color space, st. 2084 eotf], passing from completely dull and washed out colors to correct hdr display as intended by the original .jxr screenshot.
on hdr, on the .tif you will notice the obviouse over exposed blowned out, completely washed out highlights, either on microsoft photos or on images + wcg image viewer, while it admitidelly stills holds the hdr metadata because when you use the correct software to remux it to [.exr, .hdr], and you open the resulting image with microsoft photos or hdr + wcg image viewer, the hdr content is the same as the original .jxr screenshot.

xnconvert, xnview, xnviewermp does not even reports hdr to windows and thus, does not displays images in hdr, same for [.jxr, .exr, .hdr], so it will be difficult for you to display any hdr content with this outdated software.

yes, but could have been insinders, patner in contact with developpers team, level 3 supports maybe.
sometimes on some companies forums there are also staffs in contact with developpers teams.

also since 2018 and the 1st apparition on windows of hdr, there could be some users technically knowledgeable on the ins and outs of the subject matter such as hdr softwares developpers passing by, or other video quality enthusiasts as well.

 

Slideshow background images


I upgraded to 10 from 8.1. In 8.1 I had a slide show desktop background. That carried forward into 10 ( I still have the slideshow background). However, I cannot find where the images are located on the computer. Would like to modify but need to know where they are.
