  1. Can Windows Information Protection be turned off, thus allowing "offline file" to work?

I am a single user with several computers all running Windows 10, 1809. I normally operate using just two computers: a desktop system where I keep a master copy of my work files, and a laptop that I have been using "offline files" as a technique for keep one view my data files via syncing the two systems. I recently added a new Laptop computer with a new Microsoft Office Pro 2019. And my file management strategy no longer appears to work. After a reasonable amount of internet research -- it appears that Microsoft does not support "offline files" with "windows information protection". My challenge and desire is to have "offline file access" to my work files in places where the internet connection is not available? Can anyone out there help me navigate this issue? Keep in mind, I am a single person company and don't need an elaborate file server solution. I apologize if the answer is out here somewhere, but I could not seem to find a simple solution?

    :)

  4. Can Windows Information Protection be turned off, thus allowing "offline file" to work?

Windows10 System Protection Cannot Be Turned On

    Hi,

The problem always happens after the device is updated to Windows 10. The Turn on system protection is greyed out while you are able to access the System Restore panel. If you find that system restore for the Windows drive is turned off and disable, try
    any of the possible solution.

Note: Make sure you have signed in as an administrator.

I suggest you to follow the below steps to Enable System Restore.

    Enabling the Disabled System Restore:

    • Type GPEDIT.MSC in your Start Search box. This will list the app which allows to edit group policies.

    • Now follow this path Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> System Restore.

    • Look for a setting which says “Turn Off System Restore”. This is not configured by default.

    • Double click it and select “Disabled”

    • Click OK.

Hope this information helps. Get back to us with the status of your issue we will be glad to help you.

    Thank you.
