I am looking for a functionality within Windows Start Widgets that allows me to integrate and display the content of any website directly. Specifically, I want the widgets to be able toCan Windows Widgets show the content of any website and on click it will open the webpage. :Display Dynamic Website Content: The widget should be capable of displaying real-time content from the specified website. This means it should automatically update to reflect the current state of the website, similar to how an embedded browser or iframe would work.Interactive and Clickable: The displayed content should be interactive, allowing users to engage with it as if they were on the actual website. Can widgets open apps instead of webpages?

I'm accustomed to the tiles in Windows 10, which worked really well:

    • the Calendar tile showed your schedule for the day then you can just click on it to open Microsoft's Calendar app
    • the Mail tile gave a preview of new emails then you can just click on it to open Microsoft's Mail app
    • the To-Do tile gave a list of your tasks for the day then you can just click on it and open the Microsoft To-Do app
I was hoping that widgets in Windows 11 would work the same way, but they don't. Clicking on a widget opens a webpage in Microsoft Edge instead of the relevant app that the widget is supposedly linked to:

    • clicking on the Outlook Calendar app opens Outlook in Edge instead of the native Calendar app
    • clicking on the To-Do widget opens a webpage in Edge instead of the Microsoft To-Do app which still exists
I've searched for ways to redirect the widgets to open apps instead of webpages, but I only see third-party apps that offer to reroute the webpages to be opened in a different browser. When I click on a widget, I want it to open the relevant app rather than a webpage. What is the point of having the native app but then having the widget direct to a webpage instead of the app?

The widgets feature feels like it's a sort of front page for the internet (don't get me started on all the unwanted news headlines) rather than a convenient front page for my computer. I don't even understand why the widgets and apps are so separated. I could have all my live tiles and app shortcuts together on the same grid, but now I have to access them from 2 different points and I can't even customise how my apps appear.

Is there a way to get widgets to open webpages instead of apps? Should I just roll back to Windows 10 for now? Is there any planned update of Windows 11 where widgets and apps would work better together?

Microsoft Edge Webpage Content Flickering Issues with Facebook and Other Websites Which Contain Videos In Their Webpage.

    Hi,

Let's try to isolate the cause of this issue, we suggest that you use a new
    InPrivate window
and try to go to a webpage with a video again. Follow the steps below:

    • Open Edge.
    • Click on the three dots icon on the upper right part of the screen.
    • Click New InPrivate window.

If the issue persists, we suggest that you disable hardware acceleration and use software rendering instead of hardware rendering to view the webpage.
Here are the steps on how to use software rendering:

    • Click Start.
    • On the search bar, type Internet Options, and click on
      Internet Options
      from the results.
    • Click on the Advanced tab.
    • Under Accelerated graphics, check Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering.
Let us know how it goes for us to assist you further.

Can widgets open apps instead of webpages?

    Hi,

I am R. Cord, Independent Advisor.

I hope you are doing well!

Regarding the question, Can widgets open apps instead of webpages?

Yes, widgets on Windows 11 can open apps as well as web pages, you can customize your widgets to include app shortcuts and launch them directly from the widget interface. Unfortunately, as of the latest update, widgets in Windows 11 can only open web pages, and not directly launch apps like the tiles in Windows 10.

It is possible that Microsoft may add more functionality to widgets in future updates, such as the ability to directly open apps, but I already tried to investigate this "functionality" and don't find any official announcement on this yet.

you can still access your apps by pinning them to the taskbar or by using the start menu. You can also customize the start menu to include your most frequently used apps and remove unwanted news headlines and other content.

#Be aware of rolling back to previous OS:

If you prefer the tiles feature in Windows 10, you can consider rolling back to Windows 10. However, keep in mind that rolling back to an older version of Windows may cause compatibility issues with some software and hardware.

I hope I could have helped you!

    With best regards,

    R. Cord
