Windows 10: Can you change the account that appears on the login screen and is tied to the computer itself

Hey y'all, my spouse recently just changed their legal name and would like to update the email that is logged into Windows 11, however we're concerned about them losing their data on their PC. Can we change their email so that when they turn on their computer their dead name doesn't pop up every time without wiping the system?

I suggest you to try the below steps to remove the user account from your computer.

  Login to your computer through administrator account.
  
• 
  Press Windows key + r and type
  netplwiz, hit Enter.
  
• 
  Select the user account, you want to remove.

  Click on the Remove button.

  Are you able to login to Microsoft Account on Web?

  Have you installed any language pack?
  

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to select the appropriate language in login screen at the bottom right corner and check if it helps.

Steps 2: Use On-screen keyboard in the login screen to login and check if it helps.

changing computer login screen email address

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Navigate to Start>Settings>Account>Your Account.
• In the right pane, click on Sign in with a local account instead.
• Provide your current Microsoft Account Password.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.
• You can leave the Enter Password option empty, however, it is highly recommended to keep a password on your system to keep it safe.
  

After you have logged in with a local account follow the steps to login using a different Microsoft Account.
