    Can you disable integrated gpus to use a discreet gpu instead?


    I have a Asus FX505DT-WB52 that has an integrated gpu on the processor and then an Nvidia 1650. And I'm wanting to disable the amd graphics and let my Nvidia card take over is this possible?

    The specs of the system I'm asking about is also located in the specs on my profile. Thank you for your help Can you disable integrated gpus to use a discreet gpu instead? :)

    If you are successful to switch to single (sometimes discreet) GPU card you might as well need to switch to desktop version of the driver , this would allow for more options on control panel and better handling , you might as well use DDU to uninstall previous driver to remove Optimus along with it .

    On a side notice , dual graphics mode removes alot of overheads from the high performance GPU such as Windows interface rendering and video rendering leaving high performance GPU free from bloating . The only side effect is that the integrated GPU becomes responsible for handling refresh rate so might cap your fps to its ceiling , so if you have one of those GPUs capable of rendering top notch games at 140+ fps , the integrated GPU might cap it down to 60 or 120 depending on what its capable of handling .

    I can use the nvidia control panel when I prefer the nvidia card without disabling the integrated gpu. It might be different from your setup.

    It's almost the same as dalchina's second link: Open the nvidia control panel. To see if the nvidia card is being used, open the nvidia control panel, at the top left of the window click on desktop and select "display the graphics processor activity icon in the notification area". The icon is gray when the graphics card is not used and when it is used, it is with several colors, red-green ...

    Still in the nvidia control panel, go to manage 3D settings, global settings then under preferred graphics processor select "high performance nvidia processor" apply and restart the computer. Now the nvidia graphics card will always be used.
