Windows 10: Can you remove a local admin?

Right, to start this off I thought i’d say i’m terrible with computers so if the answer to this is really obvious/easy i’m very sorry! A few days ago, someone gave me a laptop. I don’t think it was brand new, but if it’s second hand it’s pretty good condition and works well (All i know about it is it’s a HP). When i first opened it, it logged me in as “local admin” which was odd because it didn’t ask me to log into my windows account and didn’t ask me for a password so i just assumed there was none.

However, when i went to download chrome and origin (logged into my windows account by this point) it brings up the box asking if the programmes can be run, I have to type in the password for the “local admin” account. I’ve tried to factory reset my laptop but again it asks me for the password to the local admin account. I’m literally stumped as I’ve got no idea what the password could be. Is there any way i can remove the local account so i can use my laptop?

Remove account

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

• Who removed the Admin rights on your computer? --> Another person who played around the laptop's settings
• Does the computer connected on a domain or workgroup settings? --> No, this is just a personal laptop with one local account.

User accounts says not an Administrator account. Is there a way I can put it back without reinstalling win 10? I can't make any changes on the laptop.
