    Can you retrieve contents that were sent to the recycle bin?


    I was trying to clear up space by deleting duplicate folders. I sent a large file to the recycle bin and the contents disappeared. I did not empty the recycle bin. I tried to retrieve the file but all of the contents disappeared. I did not have a "restore from previous version" set up. Is there another location under the local disk c: or anywhere else where I can find the contents or a way to restore it? My hard drive space indicates it's still somewhere on my computer.

    Hi George,

    To prevent your files from being deleted from the Recycle Bin, we suggest increasing the maximum file size your Recycle Bin can keep by following the steps below:

    • Right click on the Recycle Bin icon.
    • Under the Settings for selected location, select Custom size.
    • Fill up the box for your allotted maximum file size for your Recycle Bin.

    Retrieve deleted files from corrupted recycle bin

    I accidentally deleted my inbox.pst, and when i tries to retrieve it from the recycle bin, I cannot access any files there.

    After checking this forum and elsewhere on the net, I have concluded that my recycle bin is corrupted, but nearly all the solutions so far suggest to use the command:

    rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin

    Maybe my recycle bin is reset with this command, but it also deletes the content for ever, and that is critical, and must not happen!

    I need to recover the file.

    (My backup is too old to help me out with the critical emails lost with this pst file.)

    Any suggestions?

    Cannot bring the Recycle Bin icon to my desktop! I've done all the recommended steps ... Theme, desktop icon, clicked the Recycle bin icon, apply, ok. I still cannot find the Recycle bin. This is frustrating because I want to retrieve something I deleted
