    Can you use a Windows 8.1 Pro Product Key to install Windows 11?


    I bought a windows license in 2014 which I installed on a brand new PC and then upgraded for free to windows 10. I am now ready to retire my old PC and have built a new one. When I cked the Microsoft documentation, it said that as long as your license information is in your account that it should work. My account says that my Windows 10 Pro is activated via a digital license based on microsoft documentation this is bc of the "free upgrade" to Windows 10. I first created a windows 11 usb boot media. Windows 11 installed but activation didn't work. I called MSFT support and they told m

    I don't think that tool asks for a key if you are running the version of Windows you are trying to download the ISO for.

    Windows 8.1 pro + WMC key activation

    This worked for me last time with a Win 8 key.

    Install Windows 8.1 and enter KMS key during setup. Once in windows change product key to my Windows 8 key. Go to add features and enter my WMC add-on key. Drink a beer to a job well done.
