  1. Canadian French keyboard doesn't work the same after switching to Windows 11.

I used to use the Canadian French keyboard on my computer when it was using Windows 10, and it always worked correctly. However, after I switched to Windows 11 I had to re-install the keyboard, but now it doesn't work properly for inputting accents graves. According to the Microsoft website, pressing the ' key two right from the L should open an accent which is then applied to the next letter typed a, e, i, o, u. However, in Windows 11 this doesn't happen. Instead it behaves like the Canadian Multilingual Standard keyboard, inserting an è automatically. There's no way to insert à or ù except

    canadian french keyboard missing

    Hi,

    New computer.

I could select the "Canadian French" language for the keyboard. This way I can use the blue characters on my HP omen.

Then I restarted, and there was windows updates.

Now, "Canadian French" keyboard disapeared ! I can use "French", but the keyboard is not good (I need the one using the blue keys).

How can I get back the "Canadian French" keyboard ?

  3. French Canadian language keyboard

13-Oct-22 - Win 11 update 22H2 22621.674 did not repair the Canadian French keyboard. Still displays Canadian Intermediate on the soft keyboard, but keys pressed on both the soft and hard keyboards match that of the Canadian Bilingual keyboard.

Reviewing: The Canadian Bilingual keyboard was the first official French and English keyboard of Canada. The Canadian Intermediate keyboard is the precursor of the Canadian Multilingual keyboard.

Deficiencies of the Canadian Bilingual keyboard, the one active in Windows 11, is that the only French letter with its own dedicated key is é; è and even ç are available only by dead keys on the Canadian Bilingual keyboard. The Canadian Intermediate keyboard addresses that, and the Canadian Multilingual keyboard goes even further.

All of these keyboards were available in Windows 10. Only Canadian Bilingual is available now, and then, is incorrectly labeled - especially on the soft (on screen) keyboard.

    French Canadian language keyboard

As of Windows 11, I no longer have the Canadian Multilingual keyboard.

It appears to be replaced with something called the French Canadian keyboard. BUT!

When using the on screen so-called „soft“ keyboard, it appears to be the Canadian Intermediate keyboard – but – when accessing the keys, either from the „soft“ keyboard or a physical keyboard, it appears that it's really the very basic Canadian Bilingual keyboard.

That is to say, when using the French Canadian keyboard, the keys do not behave as advertised on the „soft“ keyboard.

(For a reference of other language keyboards, see A Visual Comparison of Different National Layouts on a Computer Keyboard. (farah.cl) )

Of present, I have (and regularly use) the following keyboards:

    Spanish (Spain)

    Standard German

    Swiss German

    Swiss French

    Canadian French

Of these, only the French Canadian keyboard has serious issues.

Here's hoping the French Canadian keyboard gets fixed in the next Win 11 update.
