Windows 10: Cannot access and copy files from older laptop's hard disc

Hi. My older laptop's motherboard was fried and I got myself a new laptop to replace it.I tried to transfer the files but I was given this message:I went through the guides on getting permissions and tried it. I can now access the folders but I cannot access the files. I am given this message for all the files:Is it possible that my previous hard drive is encrypted?If so, is there any way for me to retrieve my files? I really need them for my work. As there are a substantial number of files Word, PowerPoint, Excel, pdf, I cannot afford to lose them.I'm using Windows 10 on my new laptop and t

Java.nio.file - Copying files

You can't copy a folder, thats why it generates an exception (you are trying to copy a folder using a copy file function).
You probably need to list all the files inside that folder and copy one by one

 

Disc for windows 7 to run on windows 10

I suggest you to follow the below steps to read the Windows 7 disc and check if it helps.

• Insert Windows 7 disc.
• Press “Windows+E” which will open file explorer.
• There you will find the Windows 7 disc.
• Open the disc and copy the files anywhere on your computer, so that you can access the information from the disc.

• When you say 'copying files' are you referring to burning disc?

If yes then refer the link below suggested by Andre Da Costa on June 3, 2015
and follow the steps below.
