Cannot access C drive from android devices since upgraded to 16299

I have an irritating problem since 16299 came out.

I have set up full shares on laptop on C, F and G partitions (F and G on separate drive)

N&S is setup up so all shares are visible etc, no passwords required, permissions set to everyone with full access rights.

If I connect to those shares from my Windows tablet, I have complete access and it all works fine.

However, when I connect to the laptop from an android device (using ES File explorer), I cannot access C drive at all, but have full access to F and G drives. Now here is the really odd thing, I can access the public folders on the C drive but nothing else.

I cannot see any reason why I cannot access the other C drive files.

With previous version 15063, everything worked fine.

I can rdp to laptop and copy files to F drive etc, but this is a PITA,

Any ideas why it should just be C drive only?

    :)

  2. Android Phone Cannot Access shared USB external Drives

I just upgraded (that's right, I didn't do a fresh install) from Windows 7 Home to Windows 10 on my laptop.

    The Problem:

I cannot access any of the shared USB external drives from my Android Phone (Note 3 on Lollipop.) I have used ES File Explorer for years, and have since tried a number of different ones using both Samba and CIFS, but to no avail.

I can access internal drives, no problem, but the bulk of my files are on 5 external USB drives.

I read somewhere that it was a feature/bug introduced by a security update by Windows preventing non-Windows devices from accessing USB external hard drives, specifically; I do not know if this is true.

I would like to access my files from my Android device without having to transfer files or to create duplicate files on an internal drive (since it's a laptop, drive space is a premium.)

    Thanks!

Cannot access C drive from android devices since upgraded to 16299

Hooray - after lot of messing around, I managed to get access to my user profile dotectories from android.

Not sure exactly what I did but along the way I clicked on security tab on C drive, added everyone, and from advanced properties set inheritance to enable, and allowed child objects to inherit permissions. I have probably gone at this like a bull in a china shop but now I can access my user profile directories from android.
